I was so happy to have a slot open for a newborn session when mommy reached out! Amazingly, they’re from the Los Angeles area just like I am so they weren’t a far drive away. Her and her family were so full of love and joy and I couldn’t wait to photograph them. Baby Mila and her brother Liam were such a joy to have in the studio and were a breeze to shoot. Some days I wish all newborns were this easy and sleepy and Mila was such a good little model; She even did some of our most difficult poses. Just look at her cute doll face! Her parents couldn’t stop raving and gushing about their kids and I can see why.
Since this was their first baby girl in the family we went for a burst of pretty pinks, purples, and creams. Mommy and Daddy picked out the fabrics they liked and props to go along in the pre-session forms and I LOVED it. Not to be biased but we tend to get a lot of newborn baby boys for some reason so I always get excited when I book a newborn girl. Shooting with girls opens me up to use all the florals and cutesy bows and colors I can imagine, but of course, at the end of the day the color scheme is picked by baby’s parents. The picture above perfectly encapsulates what I’m talking about and my love of newborn photography and the artistic vision that comes along with it. Don’t even get me STARTED on that intricate floral headband. I want this picture on a huge canvas and hung up everywhere!
Sleepy adorable baby? check! Pinks and florals? check! Her doll face is just a beautiful added bonus.
Fun Fact: I make most of the stuffed animals and felt props (including this cute little sheep) with my own two hands all in my Newborn Studio in Los Angeles. Get a photographer that can do it all! I hope you can sense my passion for my work through little details just like this.
After baby Mila fed on milk she was knocked OUT! which is perfect for posing and makes for such cute photos. After dusty light pinks, we moved on to deep royal purples
This is my favorite and most difficult pose for newborns to stay in: Froggy! Mila was a champ and held her little hands wrapped around her face for as long as we needed. I mean just look at those chubby squishable cheeks!
I love love LOVE capturing newborns’ beautiful little details. I use a macro lens to get up close and personal and Mila was absolutely angelic.
Liam was such an adorable big brother and all he wanted to do was kiss and hold his baby sister. He was so funny and sweet the whole time and was so patient waiting for us to be done. We put on his favorite cartoons and he went on and on about his favorite soccer players. If you’re looking for family and newborn photographers in the Los Angeles area look no further!
Do you see that little smirk? I sure do! I really love the texture the soft pink fur adds to the composition as well as the floral and lace headband. She just looks so comfy and happy it drips from the image.
This is one of my favorite pictures of the whole shoot. Actually, not just of this shoot, but of ALL of my newborn photo shoots. This tiny bed is one of my most chosen props and I know why, it’s sooooo cute! The texture of the fur on the bed goes so well with the big pink florals. I added brown and pink fabrics to complement each other and it worked out beautifully. Many babies this late in the session won’t stay asleep naked and need to be wrapped but baby Mila was such a breeze that this was no problem for her! I’m such a big fan of my sleepy babies and having this ease from a baby girl nonetheless was such a blessing.
